FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can't You Open a Regular Jacket and Do the Same Thing?

It might look like opening a regular jacket does the same thing. It does not. All that puff has to go somewhere. It ends up behind your child's back and shoulders. In a crash the puff squashes flat. That leaves space between your child and the straps.

Try it at home and see. First, buckle your child in with no coat on. Pull the straps snug. Now take them out. Put a regular coat on them. Buckle them back in without touching the straps. It will not fit. It is way too tight.

Our coats are made thin in the back. They also open at the shoulder seams. That is our patent.

Pull the front flaps aside and the straps rest right on your child's chest and shoulders. So you use the same strap setting as no coat at all. And the coat stays on.

Are They Safe?

Every coat is crash tested. Car seat safety technicians (CPSTs) use them for their own kids.
The back of the coat is thin. The shoulders come apart, so the straps rest right on your child's chest and shoulders. That means they are snug and safely buckled.

There are no PFAS or PFOA in our coats. PFOA/PFAS are called forever chemicals, and kids' clothes should not have them.

And if you ever break down or crash, your child stays warm while you wait for help

Are They Warm?

We fill our coats with Seawool. Seawool is made from crushed oyster shells and recycled water bottles.

We quilt the fill flat before it goes in the coat. Quilting it flat makes tiny pockets that trap heat and also keeps the coat flat, which is part of what makes it car seat friendly.

The outside of the coat blocks wind and snow. The inside is soft fleece, with front pockets to warm busy little hands.

Are They Bulky?

Most winter coats look puffy but let cold in. Traditional coat have their fill blown in like a pillow. So in the wash the fill shifts around leaving cold spots where the fill clumped together.

Our coats use flat sheets of quilted fill that stays in place. So your child's jacket has no cold spots.

This means that the coat is thinner and warmer at the same time. Your child buckles in easily and safely every ride.

Are They Easy?

Put the coat on at home. Leave it on in the car. That is it. No wrestling a coat off in a cold parking lot. No blankets, no ponchos, no backup coat in the trunk. One mom-invented coat does the whole job for you.
